This one had sneaked out of a garden bed (where others appeared to be growing as 'weeds') and come up beside a pathway. If Love Flower/ Pastel Flower were left alone and allowed to colonise this park (which is currently landscaped, for the most part, with a limited selection of the most boring exotics imaginable) biodiversity in this area would increase dramatically, the moment the various butterfly species that depend on this plant for a nursery plant discovered the location.

Not, I think, intentionally planted; popping up here and there in a random sort of way, amongst what were very obviously the only intended (both exotic) plant species in this garden bed - a prickly succulent and something with blue flowers. I wouldn't be at all surprised if, next time I visit this spot, I discover they've all been rooted out and/or sprayed.

No idea what these might be. Not sure whether photos are clear enough for species-level identification. Very small.

Only two. Three or four or five years ago one would routinely see six, eight, ten bush stone-curlews in the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, in and around the spot where I saw these two on 26/4/24. I looked carefully all around - and I'm quite good at seeing bush stone curlews - and I could not see any others at all. Has anyone else noticed a drastic drop in numbers of bush stone-curlews in the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, over the past few years?
