In a bathroom at the field station. For some reason, my camera just can't handle things on light-colored backgrounds, so the photos didn't come out very well. This fella got a little startled when I tried to hold the scale next to him. The long legs make them look big, but they are not large spiders at all.

Found this exuvium under a rusted old can. I can see a notably deep dorsal groove on the carapace and a relatively clear eye arrangement, but I don't know yet what family this belongs to.

I believe this is a psyllid, though I've never knowingly seen one before. It was very difficult to see on this Shepherdia rotundifolia, and it hopped away before the shutter released on my 5th photo. Because it is nearly the same color as the foliage, I have included the original photo and then an enhanced version of each.

Most of my day of spider hunting was filled with empty webs and spider molts. Here's a tiny exuvium, where the general eye and leg arrangement are visible.

Among the Betula leaves being skeletonized by leaf beetle larvae, there were a few woolly cocoons. My guess was that they were made by Malacasoma caterpillars dropping from the tree above, because we'd seen many of those around, but I didn't look to see if there were any tents in this tree. And I don't know if they do this to leaves.

Most Altica species feed on alders, but there are some that feed on Betula, which this is. The cocoon, though surrounded by beetle larvae is unrelated to the beetles. This tree was very near the river's edge.

This funnel web was built into a tree branch. It is right next to the river bank, which is why there is debris packed into it. As was the case all day, there was nobody home.

Genus is an educated guess based on similar willow gall-formers within it. Of note is the fact that these galls are only on one side of the leaf.

On a large tree trunk a few meters from the river's edge. I'm pretty sure the hole just below the moth is where it emerged from its cocoon, which it had built in the bark. This tree had several tents in the canopy, and cocoons among the foliage below.

I am guessing this is the work of caterpillars, due to the entrance holes in the Opuntia, the frass left behind, and the webbing. But I don't know if there are beetles or other larvae that do the same.
