Found on my potted orange tree. Most of the leaves have been chewed or fallen off over the last couple of months. I’ve been searching day and night on the tree and in the soil but have found nothing. Even looked into leaf cutting wasps. Tonight in the cold air, I found it on this twig laying on the soil in the pot. No other twigs or leaf litter around. Little goober! Headed to a Master Naturalist friend who raises moths and butterflies.

UPDATED with higher quality images. Removed egg image since I’m not sure they are related.
Found on tight weave canvas cover on patio. Seem to be burrowing in the fabric. There were about 20 critters. They are very tiny, look like a spec of dirt - used macro camera lens for best view

Came up in a flowerbed. Lovely tree shape. I have seen similar in the woods about 90 miles southeast of here and have heard them called them Cherry Laurels. I understand they were a popular shrub in the 50’s. This neighborhood was built in the 1900’s-1950’s (our house in 1950). We had lots of backyard birds who could have delivered a seed from nearby. Thoughts on the flavor of this laurel??
