Peregrine Falcons
Take a virtual trip to Anacapa Island, off the coast of Ventura, California, to hang out with a family of Peregrine Falcons. These fierce winged raptors have been known to build their nests with a view—whether patrolling from cliffs, electricity pylons, or skyscrapers, they’re constantly surveying for ground critters and birds to swoop down on and scoop. Peregrine Falcons were critically endangered, due to pesticide exposure, in the mid-1900s, but have since made a tremendous recovery thanks to restoration efforts.
