A new species of Pyrilla Stål, 1859 is being described from India: P. diafanopterus. The new species is compared with P. perpusilla (Walker, 1851) and P. protuberans Stål, 1859. A redescription for P. perpusilla and P. protuberans is provided.

Head:
Cephalic process narrows toward the apex, but stops narrowing down near the apex.
Wings:
spots are situated all over the wings, and form small bands near the edges of the wings.
Pyrilla perpusilla Walker, 1851
Head:
Yellowish with blackish snout, snout slightly longer than pronotum and mesonotum combined.
Legs:
Peach femora, tibiae, and tarsi.
Wings:
Yellowish shades, sometimes with shades of gray towards the apex.
