This species is known only from the eastern lowlands and cordilleras of Panama in the Darién region, adjacent to Colombia, at 800-1,400m asl.
Very little is known regarding its population status. It was rediscovered recently when two specimens were collected. These were the first records in many years.
It inhabits humid lowland and montane forest, where it is arboreal, and breeds by direct development.
Listed as Data Deficient in view of continuing uncertainties as to its extent of occurrence, status and ecological requirements.
