Trying for as many people sharing observations of as many different organisms as possible throughout a calendar year, all within the boundaries of the City and Borough of Sitka, Alaska.
It's kind of an informal year-long bioblitz for the Sitka area. It's easy to participate, just add observations made in 2017 from the Sitka area to iNaturalist. Your observations will automatically be added to this project.
We'll also try to set up some outings during the year to focus on particular groups (plants, birds, etc), with help with identification and photo taking strategy (to make it more likely a photo is identifiable).
As of the start of 2017 in iNaturalist, there are over 5000 observations of more than 1200 species (890 confirmed) reported from Sitka by 73 observers. Let's see if we can at least match these numbers in 2017 alone!
