In Obscure spring fed meadow growing in channels. This one is interesting because itkeyed to kindergia oregana but it doesnt look like it to me. Although this is high elevation and very different habitat than what im used to from Oregon. This is the best i could key it to . i even rechecked it with multiple other possibilities and it didnt fit with anything else. What this one is lacking is teeth along the margin and the costa is a bit thicker. perhaps i went the wrong way on the key?

This individual was situated in the middle of mixed forest fairly far away from the more congested and apparently planted (Henson and Usner, 1993) stand at the ridgeline near the fire lookout and observatory.
Makes me want to go back and look for others away from the summit – it 'feels' like they occur natively alongside Ponderosa and Coulter Pine at this location – a speculation also held by unnamed botanists mentioned in the H&U account for the species.

Shown with Ramalina menziesii growing throughout the tree. (Photos taken at sunset.) Needles seem to have something akin to honeydew and fecal spots (or fungus), but I haven't been able to trace them back to any pest or pathogen.
