In this observation you can see the cocoons that was formed in soil. I tried to open some, in two cases I found the little weevils inside, and found a pupa in another one, but it is tiny and I think I might have injured it. In the last two pictures you can see the approximate size in millimeters

Gray overcast day with slow rain in a beech, oak dominated and mainly deciduous forest.
The bigger one was 13cm or less stretched out. Mating happend on an oak at around 1,5m height. And the whole act took less than 30min.

One of things I most wanted to see in Namibia was Welwitschia!
This ancient and bizarre plant, restricted to a portion of the Namib Desert in Namibia and southwestern Angola, is the sole representative of its order. Everything about this plant is strange, but its longevity is especially noteworthy. This one is reasonably large, making it at lest a few hundred years old. Some have been dated to 2000 years. It always has just two leaves that grow from the base before splitting and getting ragged at the end.
