Alfalfa Looper Moth. Photographed at High Park, Toronto, Ontario on 9 August 2019. When I spotted this on one of the sheets last night I suspected this western species straight away, but wanted to be totally sure so took it home for a photo session. Apart from its large size and the general bluish-grey colour this moth shows the classic black streak extending from the step in the st line about one third from the costa. This feature separates it from the similar A. pseudogamma. Note also the chestnut patch inside and distal to the stigma on the FW. Total length was 23mm. This is a rare moth in Ontario, but I'm not sure how many records there are...
