Went fishing on Baffin Bay, and caught a croaker. We threw it on the boat to use as bait but continued using shrimp. When the fish died, we saw this crawl out of its mouth. I had seen a show about it and knew what it was and brought it home for better pictures. The fat end seemed to have gills, like a crab does. I killed it and threw it away after the pictures because I don't need a tongue-eating louse in my house.

These were growing in the soil over some decaying flowers. Interestingly, ants were all over the place when I was taking a sample, specifically, ants of the genus Tetramorium.Possibly a food source?
Springtails also spotted in the same place, obviously aiding in the process of decomposition.

This is this year's baby, probably hatched in September. It's a male, about 16 or 18 inches long. Since hatching he's probably never fed and shed only his post hatch shed. He was out on the road trying to warm up. It was 66 degrees and had been 40 at dawn.
