Skirmish between Common Snapping Turtles competing for the same spring fed pot hole on the LBJ NHP Settlement, Johnson City, Texas. These two - or more - turtles violently contested the pool for mating rights. I was fortunate to be on scene for the turtorial combat - a scene I first observed a few years prior on Town Creek in downtown. These fights took place in clear water allowing a better glimpse into this behavior.
