The difference of two Lissachatina Species in South China.
This is a previously undiscovered seep of this globally imperiled moss, which is heavily threatened due to climate change and is known from only 19 sites in Canada.
Sample confirmed by Dr. Caners, Royal Alberta Museum.
Location obscured to protect the population.
My friends, this isn't something you see everyday...I think I slipped into flower nirvana when I saw this.
Fasciated Canada lily, over 50 flowers on a single stalk; single plant in weedy moist thicket along railroad.
Caterpillar finally IDed! (Apr 20-May 13) (picture with the plant it finally consented to eat-- probably Spermacoce / Borreria) (April 25: weighed 2.6g) (Night of Apr.26: disappearance into pupa phase, attached to a leaf) (May 2: added picture of pupa...I noticed the hiding plant was no longer "heavy"-- peeking under it, found the [very twitchy!] pupa) (May 12: pupa had turned brown and was trying to flex his wings-- still nice and twitchy!) (May 13: out!!)
