Descripción

The fall run of Chinook Salmon appears to be at its peak over the Thanksgiving holiday with thousands of Salmon in the American River trying to get up the fish ladder to the hatchery, and every tributary below Nimbus Dam. The female Chinook Salmon was digging her redd in the shallow water along the South shore of the River. The female is the olive-green Salmon to the left and in front of the reddish male Salmon with its back partially outta the water. The male Chinook Salmon was guarding the female from other males trying to fertilize her eggs (third photo).
