3 shots posted of two different immature birds. I have spent several weeks on this ranch in southern Tamaulipas and we got to know individual birds and their areas.
On well known nest. Horse ride guides point it out to participants as they pass.
One photographed while calling (refer to recording). Another calling back. Both in the vicinity of the photographed nest in a cottonwood tree. (NOT the same nest as being utilized by zone-tailed hawks, also in a cottonwood tree, in the same area to the west. Photos, recording, and entry by CP.
Someone pointed out to me the unhatched egg stuck in the edge of the nest. Perhaps why there is just one chick.
