This is a 1st winter Black-legged Kittiwake, a very rare bird in Georgia. At first I thought it was a Bonaparte’s Gull, but after I checked my field guide the pictures looked a lot like a Black-legged Kittiwake. This bird had an odd behavior, it was zipping around almost falcon-like, which reminded me of the kittiwakes in Iceland. Also, this bird has a black collar in the back of the neck and a fuller, darker M shape on the wings which Bonaparte’s lacks. It also has black legs, instead of the pink legs of a Bonaparte’s 1st winter. This is a first for me in the ABA area!
