I am fairly certin of this species as they have previously been identified by Ken Walker and I have been watching roosting since early 2019 The last day I have sighted this species roosting in this location. First seen on 15 January 2019. About 50 of these males were clustered on dead twigs over the pathway at about 6:45 am. When first seen all had their wings extended making a plant lik pattern. Unfortunately I breathed on them as I got close enough for a photo and they began to move, fly off or just close their wings. This is the first time I have seen a cluster of any wasp mimic bees. ID by Dr. Ken Walker and again in singles to threes since 22 Dec 2019 on cool mornings,up to 3 Jan202 (so far)

Male Dune Glider, Tramea eurybia.

Around the lake (photo 3) they are continually active, not stopping or perching lakeside. However they can be seen flying and perching about 10 m above the ground up to 300 metres away from water.

Photo 4 is of a mating pair. My camera and I weren't able to keep up. However, it gives an indication of male and female colours.

Found along Gordon's Creek, in the leaves of a Dysoxylum gaudichaudianum sapling (at ~3-4 meters above ground). This sapling was growing next to (almost touching) a very large, mature Dysoxylum gaudichaudianum, on which small sap runs were observed ~ 2 meters from ground level.

In the peak of the top end dry season. A mantis crashed into the spotlight of my parked vehicle and fell on the ground, stunned. The katydid immediately arrived and began eating it. This is a dried up creek bed and the nearby vegetation is extremely dry - perhaps the katydid desperately needed the moisture. Bowerbird.org.au sighting being moved to iNaturalist as the former website is shutting down.

Fruit had a mushroom shape, with quite a strong, woody stem and attachment.
Upperside was white, with centre area brown. As the fruit aged, the entire upper side of the cap turned a dark chestnut brown.

Underside was very interesting, composed of densely packed teeth, which tapered to a fine point. These Teeth were quite robust with little flexibility, though softened in older specimens. Teeth travelled down the stem quite a distance, particularly on the under portion of the stem.

Largest caps were 3-5cm across. 4-6cm long, but would be longer as the stem curves upward (almost into a U shape on some).

Also had almost root like lengths of mycelium joining several pairs of mushrooms together. when a fruit was removed, these very tough lengths of mycelium remained attached pulling away from the branch intact.

Collected: Sample OAM24.

Sighting and photos (c) arisc.
Field Notes - So, I only saw one of these, but my friend told me there were heaps of them in a nearby park... however I’m surprised if they’re so common because I couldn’t find any reference to these in my research, except for a type from California, USA.... could this be a recently invasive species, or are my souces just bad? Anyway, specific details of this sighting: bug was on some roadside debris, and appeared to be gathering somethibg too small for me to see (something it eats?), and seemed to be quite alone (I only saw one).

Larva of a nymphid lacewing Osmylops species. Identification thanks to Tim New. This larva turned up in some leaf-litter during a search for spiders as part of our Bush Blitz of Flinders Island in March 2014. Although tiny, it would eventually grown into quite a monster, and with those jaws would be a formidable predator of ants, though it's not a true ant-lion in the strict sense of the word.
