A pair of bluebirds came to the seed cylinder feeder and then checked out the nest box, perhaps considering a third clutch despite the high temperatures we’re having.
While biking, I observed the lynx on the Valley of 10,000 Smokes Road in Katmai National Park & Preserve on the Alaska Peninsula in early morning. When the lynx saw me, it went approximately 25 yards off of the road into the forest where it lay observing me for roughly 10 minutes before it moved on. During this time, the lynx yawned multiple times and closed its eyes repeatedly, seeming to micro-nap. The lynx exhibited no visible or audible signs of stress and left the area slowly, looking back over its shoulder one time before moving out of sight.
