Small population growing on rock among mosses, right before the entrance to the Thurston lava tube.
Abundant on decomposing wood throughout nearby forests. Dominant moss but growing with some other species.
Abundant in moist recesses under trees and rocks, growing with many other liverworts and mosses. Thallus lacks air pores, male gametophytes are spherical and covered in bristles, female gametophytes are stalked and bristled.
