I ran the original file through Audacity because although the birds are clearly audible (to me) when I play the files on the original recording app (HI-Q MP3 REC for Android), I can barely hear the birds when played back in iNaturlaist. The edited sound file has some distortion but at least the birds can be heard. Since there is no way to reorder sounds, the first file is the original recording while the second file is the edited version. Black-capped chickadee.
Monarch caterpillar ready to form a chrysalis on the edge of a flower pot outside.
Female monarch laying eggs on potted swamp milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) - she just couldn't wait for those to get planted. They seemed to prefer the young growth of potted seedlings to lay their eggs on over the milkweeds planted in the monarch waystation just a few feet away.
