Turtle was alive. In this area it is common for green sea turtles to sun on rocks, a behavior not common in most parts of their range.
Specimen is alone swimming minding its own business, completely ignoring me, the flash form the strobes and other divers.

Sadly , dead. Appears to have tracked parallel to the ocean for 60 yards - called and reported to FWC
This is Green Sea Turtle Ella (not a fish but definitely a sea creature). She was rescued from the Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve by Australian Seabird Rescue, Central Coast branch several months earlier. She was critically ill with pneumonia and septicemia as she had swallowed a helium balloon! With expert care, nutrition and donations from the local swim communities she made a full recovery. This is the moment of her return to Cabbage Tree Bay in October 2021 (it was pure luck that I was able to capture this). Ella showed her gratitude by leaving Cabbage Tree Bay. We all wish her the best of luck and health for the rest of her hopefully long life.
