I found these 2 huge slugs (about 2 inches long) on my screen door. I came back 20 minutes later to find them hanging from a stand of mucous ( ?) and twined around each other, presumably mating. Does anyone know why they would climb my screen door? I have seen slugs do this in the past, usually on hot, humid nights, but Aug. 29 was neither hot nor humid.
This beauty landed in my yard and posed nicely for me while I went in for my camera. It is unclear from the photos, but I got a good look and am quite sure it is an Eastern Tailed Blue due to the wing markings. This is the first one I’ve ever seen in this neighbourhood.
