This mangrove sprout is roughly 1.5 feet high. It has shiny, green pointed leaves (on both sides) and a slim trunk. The leaves are only at the top of the stem. At the base of the trunk it gets a little thicker. The mangroves around it that we’re bigger were dropping pods. This plant was found in a marsh area as it is growing out of water. After some research I believe this is a red mangrove due to its leaf shape and how it’s growing from the ground.
