This Pine Woods snake had an orangish brown color and was about 12 inches long. According to Pine Woods Snake Information & Facts, “Typically these snakes are a shade of brown, but rarely other colors are also reported, including albino.” It was found hiding underneath some leaves in the woods which is common for these type of snakes. Another article by Florida Museum explained that, “It is occasionally found under rotting logs and leaves, but most often under the bark of dead pine trees.” Since this snake is not venomous or aggressive it tends to hide from other animals and humans. The article Pine Woods Snake Information & Facts also stated that, “The pine woods snake (Rhadinaea flavilata) is a small snake that is native to the southeastern areas of the continental United States... By far the largest number of these snakes live in Florida.” This snake is a deuterostome since it is a vertebrate which means that it’s blastopore becomes the anus and it is a reptile.
