I've been watching this for a few weeks and it looks like it has pupated.
ID tentative.
Found by a friend (my photos here), who sent pix to a firefly aficionado and got this ID.
iNat disagrees with this ID for these adults, preferring Ellychnia corrusca . However, iNat IDs exuviae (208644961) found on the same tree as Pyractomena borealis.
Me? Idk.

Some sort of larva, looked almost like a cross between a ladybug larva and one of those trilobite beetles
Photographed on Sugar Maple trunk in heavily wooded vernal wetlands at East Fork State Park.
Found on tree trunk in heavily wooded vernal wetlands on warm February afternoon (62 degrees Fahrenheit) at East Fork State Park.
Several males were giving their orange sputtering flicker along the margins of moist woods. This individual landed, and I took a quick photo. P. tremulans was also flickering for a nice comparison between the two. 70 degrees Fahrenheit, partly cloudy, no wind, and mGDD from February 1 was >1354.
