These mushrooms, in a group of 3 and second group of 2, were on the gravel banks of a mountain out-wash. A creek with a little flowing water was about 40 feet away, but the mushrooms were in the gravel and significantly higher than the water.
Bleeding orange, very large size - up to 10” across, often in clusters of 2-4 along trails behind Sheep Mtn Lodge so with alder, spruce etc. quite a few patches of them.
This was identified on a Facebook group by @noah_siegel as C nebularis with an infection. Several other infected specimens were also recently reported in and around Anchorage.
Cap yellow when fresh. Growing on ground along mossy forest trail.
