It was approximately 1/2 inch. Hornet nests can be found across the country in plants such as high trees or even on man-made buildings. This round perennial plant can be found just about anywhere on the USF campus. It's identifiable by its round head and short stems. It's often found growing on the side of sidewalks or in large fields. It's bright green allows the plant to blend in nicely with the surrounding grass when in fields. The round leaves are about the size of a quarter, and the stems are usually no larger than 3 inches. These plants are spread by rhizomes.
