Watched a wasp attack and presumably sting and paralyze/kill this spider before dragging it into a crack in the ground.
There were eight caterpillars on the fennel plant that was host to this caterpillar, most earlier instars. Last year a fennel plant at this spot supported a few caterpillars, too, while many nearby plants had none. I wonder what makes one plant or location more attractive to a gravid butterfly.
This is what is suggested. Eggs on a rose leaf. Not sure.???
