An amazing fruiting: 35+ fruitbodies all along the decaying bole of an old tanoak among redwood/bay-laurel forest upslope of a narrow ravine. Decaying log was heavily colonized with thick, sheeting, felty mycelium from which primordia emerged directly, looking like 'suction cups'.
I suspect this species is expanding/newly introduced/colonizing as a recent arrival in CA. Seems like the first record for the state was in 2010? Found by Erin Page Blanchard.
Growing on mission olive. Multiple fruiting bodies emerging from about 4 m up trunk.
Fruiting bodies ~ 0.5 cm
