Growing on decaying white oak stump
Most of mushroom was missing, just 1/4 sticking out of sand and the stem crumbled in hand. Creamy yellow spore print. Elongated spores, amyloid. Growing on sand dunes, likely mycorrhizal partner likely Hudsonia tomentosa
Genus confirmed by DNA analysis (Scott Redhead). Unique species on two adjacent small oak stumps
Shelf mushroom on well rotting cottonwood in river drainage. Panellus stipticus
Size differentiates from R. applicatus, as does the striate margin of cap and the cup shape.
Found inside conifer* pictured.
Apx. Each fruiting body apx. .2-.4cm wide
Each "cup" embedded in the subiculum is smaller that 1mm wide. Spores are 6-7 x 4-5.5µm, apiculate, hyaline. Clamps present. Crystalline or refractive material among the hairs.
