On leaf of Platte thistle
Feeding on stinging nettle.
I didn't see many butterflies while in Saudi Arabia, but the painted lady I saw at least 3 times this week.
The painted lady is one of the most widespread butterflies and the eggs are laid on more than 100 host plant species, typically on composites. The globe thistle Echinops polyceras was common here, and might have been the principal host plant for the caterpillars.
