Small mammal trapping as part of a University of Wisconsin-Madison study, partnering with Great Lakes Indian Fish & Wildlife Commission. Released unharmed.
Nest under overgrown patch of cilantro, from mower clippings, at edge of garden, disturbed while harvesting vegetables and youngsters moved to new location.
Disturbed by winter preparatory landscaping on campus. Jumped into the road and I walked behind it until it was well across and closer to the forested area.
Large circular mound about 30cm wide pushed up in mowed area at edge of shallow, marshy pond. One individual found deadon snow in this same area in 2018, submitted to Chicago Field Museum in Oct. 2018, but does not yet seem to be processed/digitized.
