When I walked through the Cotton Hollow Preserve, I found the turtle sitting near the water of river.
Wood turtle? Shell is about 12" in length
This Florida Mud Turtle was caught near a source of freshwater close to the beach.
2 Suwanee cooters swimming in the water under the boardwalk behind the main restroom area at Alderman's Ford Park.

Basking snapping turtle. One of at least five individuals. Not known for basking. Several were on beaver/muskrat dwellings. Others on tufts of grass, some sharing with painted turtles.

Discovered in the outflow of Sunset Pond. Not sure how long this specimen was resident in the pond, but was obviously released into the pond by an irresponsible person at some point.
Painted turtle on a log! Have observed only a few individuals basking during these recent hot, over 90 degree days.
Have also seen several painted turtles vigorously foraging (?) in the aquatic vegetation.
The humidity was so very high as to be debilitating. And the drought condition has apparently condensed the fish population, if the number of great blue herons and great egrets is a good indicator.
These waders mingle with two mute swans and their one surviving offspring.

Saw a dozen or so individuals, mostly too distant for my zoom.
This mature individual was missing part of its left forelimb. Did not seem to be much impaired and was eager to get on its way.
These old turtles have very expressive eyes!
