Growing under alders next to a dam (lifestyle block shelterbelt, next to native forest margin). Previously observed in prior years.
Incredible bluing response when bruised or cut- one left upside down in the rain for 5 minutes had almost the entire pore surface turn blue just from the rain drops.
Spore print brownish.
Growing next to a mulched flower garden.
Gills darker on the larger/older specimens.
Spore print dark brown to charcoal.
Three fruiting bodies fruiting in woody debris under a casuarina shelter belt.
Strongly attached to the mycelium
Stem was tough, and had vertical stripes traveling from base to cap.
What I found interesting is that the caps changed shades as if the color was moisture dependant. Yet they were moist and significant rain in the morning, and showers in the afternoon.
The cap surface was also pitted and was not smooth like I would have expected.
Observation local has wide error as I can't figure out the orchard that we visited from google maps.
