My 6th iNat Anniversary!

Today six years ago I entered my first iNat observation. It was a cottontail rabbit I photographed in the back pasture on my place.
As I stated in my profile:
"My first iNat observation entered on 11-22-2013. Hopelessly hooked since."
Today, I got an unfamiliar plant identified that had been bugging me for weeks.
Yes, I am hopelessly hooked on iNat.
The iNaturalist community is awesome.

My Third Anniversary with iNat

I am celebrating my 3rd iNaturalist Anniversary tonight.
Nov. 22, 2013, at 9:57 pm CST, I added my first observation.
I have been an iNat addict since that night.

As I have stated so many times in the past three years: iNat has been an enjoyable, educational and rewarding experience of sharing and learning with others.

I am fortunate to have met in person several of the iNat powerhouse folks.

I have also "met" many others through their helpful comments, instruction, coaching, and encouragement.

Looking forward to my 4th year....

Manicured spaces

I agree with a comment in description of a public park made in a recent observation:
And ... after a less than perfect week, am compelled to add that I believe our over-manicured landscapes in my area contribute to the demise of the earth as we know it.,. including:

  • Commercial sub=divided "homesteads" as advertised on TV, (i.e. "Buy/own your private heaven of 5-10 acres and destroy all its natural beauty with a brand new John Deere or Kubota w/ front-end loader or perhaps a Gator or 4-wheeler to cut ruts in the sand instead of strolling on foot to observe nature.
  • Ranches of corporations and retirees compelled to include in their manicured lawns and pastures the adjacent roadside ROW'S. Nice and neat views as I drive past, but so sterile and BORING, especially when wildflowers bloom in more natural areas.
  • Use and over-use of herbicides to maintain these pristine areas.
While I doubt anyone will read or comment on my rantings tonight, I feel better after unloading.
Tomorrow is another day. Onward and forward.

My iNaturalist Heroes

Folks:
I do not know who will receive this post or who will bother to read it:

It is my first journal entry.

So here it goes:
I celebrated my 2nd iNaturalist anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015. It has been an enjoyable, educational and rewarding experience of sharing. Not to mention, ADDICTIVE!
Now...
I hope you do not consider my observations of "Humans" are "spam" or inappropriate or extraneous material.

The observations I submit of Humans are of, and will be, fellow iNaturalist's I have met personally, face to face, and even given a Texas hug. They are folks I have been elated and honored to meet because they have educated and coached me in my quest to learn more about the natural world.

Most of all...they have enabled me to share this knowledge with others.
