Virginia Aquarium Bird Species

I visited my friend in Virginia Beach, VA in early February 2023. On Feb. 5th we went on the aquarium's Atlantic Explorer boat, which gives whale-spotting tours. We saw quite a few birds (along with the fins and backs of bottlenose dolphins and a fin whale! The guides believed it to be a juvenile fin whale) but I wasn't able to capture good photos. So here is a list of seabirds seen:
brown pelican
juvenile bald eagle
double crested cormorant
great blue heron
northern gannet
bufflehead
egret (spp?)

Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge 5.13.22

Yesterday I was at the Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge in Aitkin County, MN. I brought binoculars and did some bird-watching! Much too fast and/or far away for me to even attempt any photos with my phone camera. But there are some species I saw well enough to ID or look-up afterwards using iNat, so I'm going to put them here for my own record/memory!

Tree Swallow (Tachycineta bicolor)
Bobolink (Dolichonyx oryzivorus)
Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialis)
Red-winged Blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus)
Rose-breasted Grosbeak (Pheucticus ludovicianus)
Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo)
Wood Duck (Aix sponsa)
Sandhill Crane (Antigone canadensis)

Everyone's Back for the Summer

Made a lot of animal observations so far during the later part of April that I was really excited about, but couldn't take pictures due to driving or the animals being too far away for my cellphone's camera or running/flying off. But I wanted to record them here!
-Turkey vulture (first turkey vultures I've seen this season! Saw several in a tree and near a deer carcass in a ditch. My favorite bird species; I was thrilled to see them!).
-Red fox (ran across Hwy 73 south of Cromwell)
-Bald eagles (many sightings, mostly at roadkill deer carcasses)
-Wild turkeys (many sightings of groups and one lone individual once - another favorite animal/bird of mine)
-Sandhill cranes (flying overhead and in an ag. field)
-Wood ducks
-Hooded merganser ducks
-Many, many mallards
-Many, many Canadian geese
-Many, many white-tailed deer
-Unknown raptor species alongside the bald eagles at deer carcass. I wasn't able to identify without having a picture to upload. Gotta work on raptor ID for sure.
