Brought up in Lane Cove a northern suburb of Sydney in the 60's and 70's. Developed an abiding interest firstly in birds particularly seabirds mainly as my uncle Allan Sefton and cousins the Gibson boys were into tagging albatross off Wollongong and wandering the beaches looking for vagrants washed up after storms. However being out in a tinny lead to migraines so I became a landlubber. I turned to butterflies around 10 years old and they have been a passion for me ever since. I have travelled all around Australia in pursuit of different species and now retired I have taken to writing up scientific papers where life history details are lacking. Currently living in the Wet Tropics where species richness is amazing and we are still finding new taxon. Cheers Ed ( male)
