I studied Marine Biology and Ecology at New College in Sarasota, FL once upon a time (in the late 19080s). I volunteered at the Northeastern University Marine Station in the 1990s. I have served as a volunteer Naturalist at Star Island among the Isles of Shoals off NH and Maine. I was taught to be a naturalist by my father who is an engineer a scientist and life-long naturalist. I have attended the Natural History Conference on the Isles of Shoals more times that I can remember and studied with Dr. Howard Lightfoot who cataloged the plant life there over a period of decades. He would have loved this program and I hope that we can reproduce his work in this online format for generations to come. Dr. Albert Dolittle was an amatueur astronomer and naturalist at Star Island, he discovered a kettle hole that we need to somehow uncover once again. Annually he would dig it out. But he's long gone and I only know the general area where it may be. I believe that (literal) grounding is very important and that being near the ocean or in forests is very important for our individual health as being around the negative ions found in these environments are very healing. I am also interested in herbalism and have studied plant medicine.
