Hi, I'm Kyle!

I spend most of my time on here identifying Kalopanax septemlobus, Eleutherococcus sieboldianus, and Akebia quinata - three uncommon Asian species spreading invasively in parts of the Northeastern US. My main interest is in unusual edible plants, hence my interest in the above species. Have you ever tried invasive plant tempura? Good stuff.

I'm a big fan of the genus Cephalotaxus, and am trying to get better at identifying them down to the species, though their taxonomy is somewhat uncertain. I also enjoy identifying the sister genus Torreya, specifically Torreya nucifera and Torreya grandis.

Always on the hunt for the elusive yellow-fruited spicebush. Maybe one day I'll see one for myself!
