Hi, I'm Kyle!

My profile photo is me with the Connecticut champion castor aralia tree (Kalopanax septemlobus), which I discovered and documented this year, in Waterbury, CT.

I'm a volunteer with the Connecticut Notable Trees project, so I travel around the state looking for large and rare trees to photograph and measure. Feel free to message me if you've found a notable tree you'd like me to check out! You can view the project here: https://oak.conncoll.edu/notabletrees/

I'm an aralia enthusiast, and the top identifier of Kalopanax septemlobus and Eleutherococcus sieboldianus - two hardy aralia species from East Asia which are showing invasive tendencies throughout the Eastern United States. I could talk your ear off about both species!

I'm always on the hunt for the elusive yellow-fruited spicebush, and other native novelties such as variegated plants and witches' brooms.
