I enjoy exploring the biodiversity of everyday environments. My specialty is ornithology, but I have a strong interest in insects due to their great diversity at even the smallest scales. I'm originally from Arkansas and I occasionally escape Kansas on trips there and to Colorado. In central and western Kansas I frequent Quivira National Wildlife Refuge and Cimarron National Grassland to look for birds more often than I probably should. I'm a biology professor at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kansas, where I teach general biology and organismal biology.
