I am fortunate enough to live in the amazing paradise that is the Pacific Northwest. When I got my Master's degree in counseling psychology I focused in particular on ecopsychology, the psychology of how we relate to nature and how we can use the restorative properties of nature in therapy. I am a certified Oregon Master Naturalist and Wilderness First Responder. I teach classes on nature identification through various community colleges, and I lead guided nature tours throughout the PNW. I'm also the author of the book "The Everyday Naturalist: How to Identify Animals, Plants, and Fungi Wherever You Go" (Ten Speed Press, June 2025). You can find out more about my work at rebeccalexa.com

I'm interested in citizen scientist projects local to southwestern Washington and Northwestern Oregon in particular. I have volunteered with Cascade Pika Watch, SOLVE, Lower Columbia River Estuary Partnership, Friends of the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge, and many more.
