I grew up in SouthTexas with parents who were outdoor enthusiasts. Mom's particular love was wildflowers. Dad was a hunter and fisherman and those have been lifetime interests for me as well. Fortune allowed me to study Natural Resources Conservation and Management at Texas A&M University. After graduation I worked as a park ranger, research associate in ecology for Texas A&M, and as an Environmental Specialist with The Texas Department of Transportation. I currently work as a mental health counselor and I get out in nature, hiking, canoeing and camping as much as possible. My sisters have become Texas Certified Master Naturalists and have inspired me to get back into nature study, particularly birdwatching a little more seriously. Its in our blood.
