I am a retired biology teacher and naturalist in the Pikes Peak Region. Most of my research has involved the response of insects to forest thinning, but I have also maintained a large reference collection of moths and have done research on beetles (Histeridae) and on the response of skippers to high temperatures. I have made butterfly counts on the lower Bear Creek Road (and other sites) since 1994, and probably have the largest database on butterfly abundances, emergence dates, and flight periods in the Pikes Peak Region. I maintain a blog that is mainly for natural history interests at mountainbreakfast.wordpress.com
