Sean Green is a monthly columnist at In the Field Magazine, a photographer, and educator specializing in entomology. He has authored over 100 articles about insects over the past decade and collaborated with State entomologists, park rangers, and our local agriculture community to collect, photograph, and identify a variety of insects.

Sean's devotion to entomology began with a passion for reptiles and the necessity to rear his own insects to feed his reptile collection. Fascinated with the diversity, behavior, and ease of rearing insects, Sean's affections soon shifted from herpetology to entomology. His participation in the entomology community began with volunteer activities, citizen science, and networking and progressed to be the local "go to” guy for anything involving insects and increasing requests for speaking engagements.

As an educational speaker and workshop facilitator, Sean inspires countless school age children to explore and embrace the mysterious world of insects. When Sean is not teaching natural history for the parks system, special interest group or scouting event, he is teaching rural Florida history at Cracker Country, a living history museum in Tampa.

One of Sean's defining characteristics is his enthusiasm for exploring the world around him and much of his time is spent hiking, camping and canoeing. He attributes much of his love of life and the natural world to his Cajun heritage and family culture. Sean's parents encouraged he and his two brothers to explore nature freely but always with respect; from the earliest years reiterating "never kill what you don't intend to eat yourself and waste no part of the animal".

This creed comes easy for Sean, he finds opportunity for adventure as often as he can and when he hunts, it's done with a camera. Sean's macro photography of insects illustrates his undying appreciation and fascination with a world so many overlook.
