We live in the western suburbs of Brisbane on a 4ha sloping block with 2/3rds bush and 1/3 cleared. We have every weed under the sun (and shade), as well as some amazing pockets of dry rainforest.
From clearing a large tract of lantana to pulling out weeds inch by inch, we are determined to bring our property to a practical, maintainable level. We're also planting a gazillion plants. We are working to slow the water down as it crosses our property (when we have rain!) and experimenting with systems to reduce weed distribution and establishment. We've also put in three hugelkultur beds which have been a roaring success.
We are looking forward to sharing findings and ideas with other members of the Land for Wildlife - Brisbane Project.
