If you've been watching the transition from flowering to fruiting in Urospermum, you might have noticed a really good ID character - the head when it's in fruit is nearly twice the size of Sonchus heads in fruit. You can see that character in this observation: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/25473854. While each individual fruit body is longer in Urospermum, I think most of the size increase is due to the long, slender, seedless beak at the top of each fruit.
