I've got ready a draft of the tree fern section for the identification guide to New Zealand ferns that I'm working on. It is downloadable as a 9 MB pdf from my Google drive at this link:

Constructive feedback welcome 🙂

Awesome! Thx Leon will have a look now 👍
Yea man that's mint! Is there a particular place to go to find wild ones of that Ausi one in Auckland?
Beautiful and clear! Thank you for the alert.
The summary of habit, distribution etc for each species is very useful. Interesting about wheki in groves, that is what I had seen over about 20m of streambank on Kaipatiki Creek and wondered why it was virtually a monoculture.
I believe I only ever see ponga, mamaku and wheki, which is consistent with being on the hot side of Auckland. However I will be looking out for the others.
Thanks for the reminder about Cyathea cooperii. I am glad to see it looks more distinctive than I had feared from what I had read so far.
@dave_holland I've not seen it (but haven't spent much time in Auckland). Take a look at its map on iNaturalist - it's looking scarily common.
Okay thx Leon :) iv probably walked past it a hundred times already 😂 but seeing ur guide pics has hopefully helped and put a trigger in my brain!
Very helpful Leon. Any chance to include a link to the two mentions of eFloraNZ - pages 4&7 ?
Good point @johnb-nz. I'll try to remember to make a strong connection to the eFloraNZ pages in the final product, which will also include a glossary etc.
And I'll see if I can get hyperlinks into the pdf.
That's wonderful, Leon. Very clear images to help with identification.
Look forward to the final guide!
