Summary Dec 2022 of Cape Peninsula Flora

275,338 Observations of 3,827 plant species by 4,832 observers with the help of 2,349 identifiers.

69% Research Grade, 31% Needs ID (casual plants are excluded to limit the contribution of garden plants to the totals).

Excluded from this project are 38,923 observations of 3,121 plant species "captive" on the Cape Peninsula, by 3,208 observers aided by 1,061 identifiers.

Of the observations

  • 6,059 are identified above family level. (7% of Needs ID)
  • 10,149 are identified to family or tribe. (12% of Needs ID)
    Tops needing identification are Restionaceae (Cape Reeds), Gnaphalidae (Paper Daisies), Rucshieae (Brightfigs), Celastraceae (Staff Viines), Aspholdeloideae (Aloes), Bruniaceae (Blacktips), Cichorieae (Chicories) & Thymaleaceae (Stringbarks) with over 90 observation each.

  • 35,811 are identified only to genus. (42% of Needs ID)
