Ambiguous name. Observations refer to hundreds of different species and the concept hasn't been fixed yet.
Some authors synonymize it with Russula lepida or sanguinea but diagnosis states that the stipe of Agaricus rosaceus Pers. 1801 is white. However, in the protologue it is also stated to be identical with Russula rosea Pers. 1796 which is a synonym of Russula sanguinea Fr. 1838.
Therefore, according the different interpretations by authors and by iNaturalist observers, swapping it into Russula sanguinea would lead to numerous misidentifications.
