hello @lawnranger for cactaceae we are not using POWO/KEW for it too out of date, for Cactaceae Txonomy we are using http://cactus-aventures.com/Taxonomy_of_the_Cactaceae_Index_of_Synonyms_&_errata.pdf from J. Lodé, the most accurate and actualized cactus list of accepted species.
so i have to ask you to revert your change and please, before you do a change firs ask to cactus specialists and leave a flag or the change undone until further discussion.
for more information please go to the flag in Cactaceae;

hi @najera_tutor. If you want to deviate from POWO to follow some other taxonomy, its really important to get deviations in place to signal to curators not to curate in the direction of POWO. It doesn't look like there were any deviations here so there was nothing to signal lawnranger or any other curator not to make this swap.

I've reached out to @carlos2 and @elizatorres and Rafael Govaerts from Kew. We all agree that trying to maintain an alternate taxonomy on iNaturalist isn't a great fit for the platform (also there doesn't seem to be agreement within the cactus community to just use Lode - so its not that simple - people seem to want to use a taxonomy that is neither POWO or Lode). Rafael is happy to make changes to POWO if someone does the work of organizing a few key stakeholders and do the work needed to come up with a checklist. My preference would be to prioritize getting this workshop organized, the work done, and the changes incorporated into POWO. elizatorres says they are working on moving this forward. But if there's anything I can do to help that would be fantastic
