Tituacia has been considered by some authors (e.g. Lee et al., 2009: Zootaxa 2231: 1-39) as a synonym of Hypatima. However, Li & Zhen, 2009: Proc. entomol. soc. Wash., 111(2) 433-437 stated that
Species of Tituacia are similar to Encolapta and Hypatima in having a somewhat oblong uncus, a long and strong gnathos and a distally expanded valva. However, . . . in species of Hypatima, the third sement [of the labial palps] has a dorsal scale tuft, the costal margin of the forewing is usually slightly arched mesally, and the signum is present.
